The mountain ...
Silver Star Mountain Resort is the most northerly winter playground in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. With a swirling array of colours against a backdrop of fresh white snow, Silver Star's Victorian-inspired village comes straight from the pages of a Dickens novel. Lit up at night, it's a true ski and winter wonderland.
The mountain offers two distinct ski areas, one for novices and intermediates, the other for the more adventurous. Receiving over 23 feet of natural Okanagan powder snow each year and with an average temperature of minus 5 degrees celsius, the snow quality is second to none. There are three distinct faces; On the Vance Creek face, there are long rolling groomed cruisers and TELUS Park, where you can push yourself to the limit in the halfpipe and the terrain park. There is also the new Silver Woods area, with over 400 acres of terrain, 10 new runs and five glade tree skiing areas, all serviced by an express quad chair. If you like a real challenge, explore Canada’s best backside, Putnam Creek, with steep fall lines, black and double-black diamond runs.
Do you want Nordic trails? Well you’ve come to the right place. There is around 60km of groomed trails with the track set daily and 4km of track lit for the night skiers. With 2 fully certified Biathlon ranges you can really test yourself.
At the Adventure Park, speed downhill on truck-size inner tubes at the snow tubing park. Kids can ride their own mini snowmobiles, and Silver Star's natural outdoor skating pond is an ideal place for a game of hockey. Not into skiing or snow riding everyday? Then try the horse drawn sleigh rides through the myriad of Nordic trails, snow shoeing, snow mobiling, the indoor climbing centre / gym, or just hang out in the beautiful colour that is Silver Star’s village. In the village you will find restaurants, bars, cafes, retail shops, a relaxing day spa and fun weekly kid’s events.
